Rainbow Harbor Issues and Opportunities

Rainbow Harbor is currently home to some of the iconic elements that represent Downtown Shoreline including the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Ferris Wheel and Rainbow Bridge.

Large attractions separated by open lots and wide open spaces make it challenging to create a pleasant walking experience with a human scale. Nevertheless, the area has pedestrian activity and energy from the many attractions and public spaces.

Portions of the boardwalk may be vulnerable to sea level rise during storm conditions by 2075. A significant portion of the boardwalk may be inundated due to sea level rise in clear conditions by 2100, and a considerable portion of the area may be vulnerable to sea level rise with storm conditions in 2100, if no changes are made.
