The Convention Center and Arena create very large development designed for events. It lacks the finer grain of mixed-use development that creates daily active edges on the street. Based on event activation, there is a significant difference in the character of this area between day and night and between event days and non-event days.

On the southern side fronting Shoreline Drive, the Hyatt Hotel and Rainbow Lagoon tie in to the experience at Rainbow Harbor.

Portions Marina Green may be vulnerable to sea level rise during storm conditions by 2075. A significant portion of Marina Green may be inundated due to sea level rise in clear conditions by 2100, and a considerable portion of the area may be vulnerable to sea level rise with storm conditions in 2100, if no changes are made.
